kind words

The greatest compliment is being invited back.

"Amandine’s work is incredible. When I was looking for a newborn photographer, her photos instantly stood out to me by how natural and beautiful they were. We have now had an outdoor newborn shoot and a Christmas mini with Amandine and she is such a pleasure to be around! She went above and beyond with both our shoots to capture every tiny detail and even makes our little boy laugh so we got some amazing pictures of his adorable smile at 4 months old. I’ll be booking his one year old shoot soon (because there is nobody better to do it!) and would highly recommend Amandine to be your family photographer too!"

meet the person behind the camera

Hi, I'm amandine.

I'm half French, a wife, a mum, and the photographer behind Nouvelle Vie Photography.Nouvelle Vie means "new life" in French, and when I started my business I couldn't think of a more fitting name. It represents everything I love about what I do... documenting the chapters that change us forever, whether that's expecting a baby, welcoming one into the world, or simply wanting to remember life exactly as it is right now.I've never been very good at rushing through life. I'm forever stopping to look at things most people have already walked past... the way the light flickers through the trees, the clouds, tiny bugs going about their day, or the way someone looks at the people they love when they don't know anyone's watching. Those are the moments that have always felt important to me.If there's one thing I value most, it's time. I've intentionally built both my life and my business around having more of it... more time to explore, more time to notice, more time to follow my daughter's curiosity instead of watching the clock. It's the same reason I never rush a session. I never want families to feel like they're racing through a to-do list, because the best moments always happen when there's space to slow down.Looking back, I've always known the kind of life I wanted to build. One where there was time to notice all the little things everyone else seemed to be rushing past. It's a life and business I've worked incredibly hard to build, and one I'll never take for granted.

Every family is different.
Every session is too.

What to expect

  • A calm, relaxed session with no pressure to perform.

  • Time to laugh, play, cuddle & stay in the moment.

  • Children are free to be themselves - no pressure to sit still, smile at the camera or "behave".

  • Gentle guidance when you need it, with plenty of space for real moments to unfold.

  • Photographs that feel like memories.

• This season of your life won't last forever.do you need any more reason than that? •

Ready when you are!

Let's plan your dream session.Whether you already know exactly what you're looking for, or you're not quite sure which session is right for your family, I'd love to hear from you.Every enquiry starts with a conversation, so tell me a little about yourselves & we'll create something that feels completely you.

but before you go...

Here are a few questions I'm asked all the time. If yours isn't here, I'd love to hear from you.

No, and that's a very deliberate choice.

To me, the perfect backdrop has never been four white walls. It's the home you've built together, the places your children already know and love, or somewhere outdoors that's already part of your family's story. The woodland where you walk every Sunday, your favourite picnic spot, the field where your children love to run, or the beach you've visited every summer.

Those places already mean something to your family, which is exactly why I love photographing you there. The photos become about your life, not just the people in them.

And if your family includes a dog (or any other pet), they're always welcome too. They're part of your family story just as much as everyone else.

Newborn sessions always take place in your own home.

Those first few days at home are unlike anything else, and I can't think of a more meaningful place to photograph them. It's where you've brought your baby home, where you're finding your feet as a family, and where so many of the little moments you'll one day miss are happening.

There's no packing half the house into the car, no worrying about getting everyone ready on time, and no rushing out of the door running on very little sleep. You can make yourself a hot coffee in your favourite mug, settle in with your baby, and simply be together while I photograph this new chapter unfolding around you.

For maternity, family, breastfeeding and milestone sessions, we can stay at home documenting the everyday moments that make your family yours, head to a place that's already full of memories, or find somewhere completely new together. I know lots of beautiful locations, and I'm always happy to help choose one that feels right for your family.

Birth photography is a little different. I absolutely love photographing home births and cover those within around a 45-minute drive of Banbury. I also photograph births at the Horton Midwifery-Led Unit, the John Radcliffe Hospital, Warwick Hospital and other nearby birth units. If you're planning somewhere different, just get in touch and we'll have a chat.

This is probably the question I'm asked more than any other. The short answer is... they don't need to.

I don't expect children to sit still, smile at the camera or behave a certain way. My sessions are completely child-led, so we'll follow their pace instead. Whether they want to run, explore, cuddle, have a snack or simply stay in your arms for most of the session, that's absolutely okay.

Some of my favourite photographs have come from the moments parents thought we'd "lost" the session. Children are at their happiest when they're allowed to be themselves, and that's exactly where the magic happens.

As a mum myself, and with years of experience working with children of all ages, I'll happily sing, dance, play silly games, pull ridiculous faces and do just about anything to earn those genuine smiles, giggles and belly laughs. My goal is always to make your children feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.

There's never any pressure, no ticking clock and no expectation for your child to perform. My job isn't to make your child fit the photographs. It's to create photographs that celebrate exactly who they are.

You're definitely not the first person to think that & you definitely won't be the last! The families you see throughout my website and social media aren't professional models, they're ordinary families who felt exactly the same way.

The good news is that you don't need to know what you're doing... that's my job. I'll gently guide you whenever you need it, but there won't be lots of standing still, looking at the camera or wondering what to do with your hands. Instead, I'll give you simple prompts and little things to do together that create natural connection and genuine moments.

One of the things I hear most often when I deliver a gallery is, "I can't believe that's me." The truth is, there's a huge difference between a quick iPhone selfie and being photographed by someone who understands light, angles, connection and how to help you feel comfortable. My goal isn't to make you look like somebody else... it's to show you the best version of yourself, while still looking completely like you.

At the start of every session, I tell my families one thing... stay present. This isn't just about taking photographs. It's about making memories with the people you love. The more you stay connected to each other instead of thinking about the camera, the more meaningful your photographs become.

Every single family I've photographed has told me afterwards how relaxed and fun it was, and how much they all genuinely enjoyed it... even the reluctant dads who usually arrive saying they hate having their photo taken! They almost always leave saying, "That was nowhere near as bad as I thought!"

Once you're booked, you'll find a wardrobe guide inside your client portal with lots of advice and inspiration to help you choose outfits that work beautifully together.

What you wear has one of the biggest impacts on how your final gallery feels, so it's well worth spending a little time getting right. Rather than everyone matching perfectly, I always recommend coordinating colours and textures that work beautifully together, suit the location we've chosen and reflect the season we're in. The goal is for your clothes to complement your photographs, not compete with them.

The most important thing, though, is that everyone feels comfortable. If you're uncomfortable in what you're wearing, it almost always shows in your photographs too.

Please don't feel like you need to buy a whole new wardrobe just for your session. More often than not, the perfect outfits are already hanging in your wardrobe. And if you do fancy something new, Vinted is one of my favourite recommendations. You can find beautiful second-hand pieces (and often brand new with tags!) for a fraction of the price.

If you're deciding between a couple of outfits, just send me some photos. I'm always happy to help.

Every session includes a minimum number of professionally edited images, depending on the type of session you've booked. More often than not, you'll receive more than that.

I don't believe a story can be told through just a handful of photographs. The little in-between moments, the details, the laughter, the cuddles, the quiet moments and everything in between are just as important as the photographs where everyone's looking towards the camera.

If an image adds to the story of your session and meets my editing standards, you'll receive it. That means every session, from a full birth story right through to my Christmas Tree Farm Minis, includes all of the edited photographs from your gallery.

I also don't offer sessions with just a few images included, or ask you to pay more afterwards to receive the rest of your gallery. Once you've booked with me, every edited photograph is yours to keep.

The minimum number is there as a guarantee, not a limit.

Absolutely!

I'm based in Banbury and frequently photograph maternity, birth, in-home newborn, breastfeeding and family sessions across Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and the North Cotswolds.

Travel throughout the Banbury area is included in all of my sessions. For any location outside the Banbury area, a small travel fee may apply depending on the distance, but I'll always discuss this with you beforehand, so there are never any surprises.

Whether it's a woodland you walk every weekend, a beach you've visited every summer, somewhere that's full of family memories, or somewhere completely new that you've always dreamed of visiting together... if that's your place, let's go!

Birth photography is a little different. To make sure I can get to you as quickly as possible, I usually stay under an hour from Banbury for home births. I also cover births at The Horton General Hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital, Warwick Hospital and the Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital. If you're planning somewhere different, just get in touch and we'll have a chat.

As soon as you think you'd like a session, get in touch. If you're expecting, I'd recommend enquiring as early as your 12-week scan for the best chance of securing availability. For family, milestone and breastfeeding sessions, it's always worth getting in touch as soon as you have a rough idea of when you'd like your session, especially if you're hoping for a weekend or a golden hour session, as those are always the first to book.

If you're booking a maternity session, these are usually photographed between 30–35 weeks. Newborn and birth sessions work a little differently because babies rarely arrive when they're expected to! Rather than booking a fixed date, your due date secures your booking. Because I only take a set number of newborn and birth bookings each month, I can keep space available for you whenever your baby decides to arrive. Once they're here, just send me a message and we'll arrange your newborn session within those first couple of weeks. If you've booked birth photography, I'll already be on call and ready whenever your labour begins.

Once we've agreed a date (or your due date for newborn and birth sessions), I'll send you your own client portal. Inside you'll find your contract, retainer invoice and welcome guide with everything you need to prepare for your session, including what to expect, how to prepare, wardrobe advice and lots of inspiration. Your session is secured as soon as your contract is signed and your retainer has been paid.

If you're not sure when to get in touch, just send me a message. I'd always rather hear from you early than have to tell you I'm fully booked.

We simply rearrange.

I'd always rather wait for the right weather than ask you to compromise on your photographs. If it's raining heavily, incredibly windy or the forecast just isn't looking great, we'll find another date that works for everyone at no extra cost.

During late spring, summer and early autumn, I photograph most outdoor sessions during golden hour, when the light is warm, soft and incredibly flattering. Throughout the rest of the year, overcast mornings are often the perfect alternative, creating beautiful, even light without the harsh shadows of bright sunshine.

I'll always keep an eye on the forecast and be in touch beforehand if I think we need to make another plan, so you don't need to worry about making that decision yourself.
